On set days at Darlington Railway Museum see the 50th A1 Class Peppercorn Pacific Locomotive, 'Tornado', is being built at the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust. It is the first mainline steam locomotive to be built in Britain since 1960.

* Entry to the Steam Locomotive works only with a valid museum ticket. Open every 2nd Saturday each month from 1100-1500.

From Darlington Town Centre follow the A167 inthe direction of Durham. Turn left just before the railway bridge, following brown and white signs, Darlington Railway Centre and Museum is at the top of the road to the right.
